I am currently the chair of the Department of Psychology at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas. Before accepting this position, I served as a faculty member at both public and private institutions and held other administrative positions.

My research interests include studying the developing brain and the retina. I am especially interested in studying the morphological changes that occurs in the neural tissue due to pre- and postnatal development and/or damage to it. This is largely to study the plastic changes that occur in the developing brain and look at mechanisms that may provide a window of opportunity, perhaps to repair the adult brain after damage.
