SWPA States

SWPA has three membership categories and a non-member option.  Persons in all three of the member categories of the Southwestern Psychological Association may submit abstracts for SWPA presentations at the upcoming convention or submit abstracts to our adjunct organizations (Psi Chi, SAMR, SCPA, TPA).

In addition, members receive the SWPA e-newsletter and occasional other correspondence from the Executive Committee.   Members may also place announcements (non-profit) in the SWPA e-newsletter and on the SWPA website free of charge; non-member announcements for jobs or services cost $50.

Non-members may only submit abstracts for adjunct organizations meeting with SWPA. (Check with the adjunct organizations for any membership requirements for submission to their part of the program.)

After determining the appropriate member or non-member category (see member descriptions below):
First Application Step—Create a New Profile

Full Membership

  • Professionals who are current members of national or international psychological associations, or are members of widely recognized specialized societies of psychologists are eligible for membership without the endorsement of a current SWPA member.
  • With the endorsement of a current SWPA member, persons may be eligible for membership if they have completed at least two years of graduate level work in a recognized program in psychology or from a program primarily psychological in content (but are not currently a student in a psychology program), or have completed a master's degree in psychology from a recognized graduate school.
  • Once regular membership is attained, a person may not return to a different membership level.
  • SWPA members are entitled to all rights and privileges of the Association without restriction.
  • Annual dues $55

  • New Full Member Offer: If you are joining for the first time as a full member AND you have been in the SWPA region for fewer than 3 years, then we offer your first year of membership free. Please complete a member profile and then contact our Membership Registrar, Trey Asbury, at easbury@mail.twu.edu to have him process your free membership. You will still need to pay registration if you plan to attend the convention.

  • Associate Members are entitled to all rights and privileges of the Association except the holding of offices.
  • Annual dues $30
